The Gift Exchange: Supervised Parenting Time & Exchange Center

There are times, during the stressful and emotional conflicts associated with divorce and custody disputes, that parents or spouses are unable to meet safely and peacefully to facilitate visitation transfers for their children.

Therefore, in 2004, Judge Mary Kovack, in partnership with the Medina County YMCA, created Medina County's first Supervised Parenting Time and Exchange Center, "The Gift Exchange".  Located at the YMCA facility on Remsen Road in Medina Township, the Center allows children to enjoy stress-free transfers between parents, and when necessary, parenting time in a monitored environment.

This Center offers children a safe and conflict-free space to enjoy time with both parents; allowing children to develop healthy relationships with both parents, and teaching parents better ways to interact with their children.  When the Court requires parent time to be monitored, Center Staff supervise the visits to ensure that appropriate interactions and activities are occurring.

The Center is open to accommodate the Court's standard parenting time and exchanges, and the Staff is proud to say that parents and children using the Center had time together on all major 2004 and 2005 holidays.

The creation of this center was a collaborative effort between the Medina YMCA, Medina Township Police Department, Medina YWCA, Wayne-Medina Children’s Rights Council, Medina County Commissioners and the Medina County Domestic Relations Court.
