Mediation Program
Judge Mary Kovack introduced a court
mediation program in June 2001 as an
alternative way to resolve disputes without
expensive court proceedings. The program
is open to all Medina County residents with
parenting or family law issues, whether or not
they have a case filed in the Medina County
Domestic Relations Court. Many couples
use this service to resolve disputes before
they file a case.
Mediation allows families to meet with a
neutral attorney on the court staff (the
Mediation Magistrate) to attempt to resolve
disagreements about parenting, property
division and support. The parties can
participate in this process with or without
lawyers.
